Venice Open Data - View Vaporetto Routes in Real Time

Venice has embraced open data and gives access to over 90 data sets which can be used to build apps, find information, generate statistics and more.  The data is available on a new website: http://dati.venezia.it/  The data covers all sorts, from public transport to sea levels, statistics on the number of foreigners by local authority, number of children in kindergartens and the population in each local authority by gender.

One of the first applications of the data published by ACTV - the Venetian public transport company - is this map by e-terna.net which shows the positions of the public transport boats in Venice in real time:

It is just a basic idea to show the sort of thing which can be achieved using the data sets - but it looks like it could be very useful.
